"The strategic review and resulting roadmap for Parks Victoria's mobile initiatives have placed us in a much better position going forward. We now have clear mobility guidelines, a set objectives, and realistic goals to strive towards. The methodology used was simple and logical to follow and not overbearing like many other techniques that can kill an initiative by overcomplicating it. The delivered report is clear and concise with easy to follow examples and clear instructions about our next steps. The two consultants were very professional throughout the engagement and brought with them a high-level of insight and intellect. They were always courteous and patient with us and continually adjusted their approach to ensure Parks Victoria achieved the maximum possible benefit from the exercise.

I would like to thank LogicalTech for the review of our mobility strategy completed over the past two months. I, and my colleagues at Parks Victoria, look forward to continuing our relationship with LogicalTech."

Parks Victoria - Mobility Strategy

parks_victoria_logoParks Victoria requires a mobile strategy to support mobile staff who have diverse and complex requirements. LogicalTech developed a Mobility Strategy that aligned the organisational business drivers and IT strategy.

Project Overview

Industry Government
Company Profile Parks Victoria is the custodian of a diverse estate of significant parks and reserves in Victoria, totalling 3.96 million hectares or 17 per cent of Victoria. Additionally they are responsible for the recreational management of Port Phillip Bay, Western Port, the Yarra and Maribyrong rivers.
Business Situation Parks Victoria requires a mobile strategy to support mobile staff who have diverse and complex requirements.
Solution LogicalTech developed a Mobility Strategy that aligned the organisational business drivers and IT strategy.
Benefits Parks Victoria was provided with a clear direction and strategy in relation to their mobile landscape which will ensure that the implementation and execution of the mobile solution will be successful.

The Assignment

Parks Victoria has approximately 800 employees who operate outside the corporate headquarters all over Victoria.  Parks Victoria knew they had to start utilising mobile technology to reduce costs and increase their operations.  However, due to the diversity and needs of their employees and consumers it became a very complex task assessing the mobility requirement.

Parks Victoria required a mobile solution that could manage:
  • Diverse functions and capabilities,
  • Integrate into a variety of back end systems,
  • Natively support a range of devices, and
  • Support new handset models/updates  released to market.

LogicalTech were engaged to provide Parks Victoria with an in-depth strategy to address these needs while considering the organisation’s business and IT strategies.

The LogicalTech Approach

In order to successfully deliver a mobile strategy solution LogicalTech needed to understand the business requirements, application requirements and the infrastructure in which the mobile solution would operate.  The ability to align IT to business requirements is an essential component of an effective organisation.

A six step framework was used in conjunction with workshops involving a variety of stake holders from Parks Victoria.  This valuable process encompassed discussions around:

  • Understanding the business,
  • Understanding the IT strategy,
  • Reviewing the current IT landscape,
  • Reviewing the future IT landscape,
  • Gap analyse, and
  • Developing a strategy roadmap.

The Value of the Solution

Parks Victoria was provided with a clear and concise mobility strategy that addressed the business and IT requirements. They now have a roadmap that provides them with a framework, guidelines and realistic objectives which the organisation can use to move forward with their mobile strategy.

“I believe the review and resulting roadmap have placed Parks Victoria in a much better position going forward. We now have clear mobility guidelines, a set objectives, and realistic goals to strive towards.
