Company Profile JB Hi-Fi is a fast-growing retailer that focuses on home entertainment products. They advertise a huge range of products with the slogan “cheapest prices, best brands”.
Business Situation JB Hi-Fi required an intranet platform that minimized the daily data transfer and storage costs and associated impacts.
Solution Microsoft's SharePoint was chosen as the intranet solution.  SharePoint, SQL 2005 and DocKIT File Replicator were implemented in a virtual hosted environment to enable the new intranet.

The Assignment

JB Hi-Fi required a replacement platform for their Intranet.  The major driving factor for this was decreased storage space in the exchange server. This was caused by employees e-mailing the daily sales reports to the store’s email address.

 

 

The LogicalTech Approach

LogicalTech used SharePoint with Dual authentication (Active Directory & SQL) and DocKIT File Replicator to replicate sales report files from the file storage to a SharePoint document library. This allowed staff to use their Point of Sale log-ins, which were stored in SQL. As a result permissions were set for each store so store employees could only see their own sales reports and area managers could see only their area reports.

 

 

The Value of the Solution

    JB Hi-Fi saw a dramatic change in storage space of the Exchange Server database.  The automation of the Daily Sales reports saved considerable time for the Area and Store Managers of over 450 stores.  The instant availability and secure viewing ensured that each store was complying with company reporting standards.

    Efficiencies increased through using the single porthole for sales reports, resulting in more time savings. Improvements to the JB Hi-Fi systems resulted in a single cohesive location for all sales reports, corporate news and company documents with versioning & approval control.

    SharePoint is enables users to update data on the site pages without having web development experience. This advantage provides an ongoing return on investment by reducing outsourced costs.
